Almost 100 years ago, at the base of the Zugspitze, a British aristocratic lady built an English country house – locally refered to as "Kranzbach Castle".  Unique throughout Germany, this country house has now received a new and extraordinary purpose: it has evolved into a unique retreat, offering far more than a romantic evening in an alpine setting.

The »Mary Portman House« has been modernised but the original ambience maintained.  The new »Garden Wing«, has been designed in glass and wood, which carefully merges it into its new surroundings whilst providing stunning views of the Wetterstein mountain range.
